Is It Legal or Is It Right?

About this event

Most people view the criminal justice system as a rigid machine of laws and rules, but the reality is far more complex. In the high-stakes worlds of policing, courts, and corrections, the most difficult choices are often deeply ethical rather than strictly legal. This presentation strips away the "black and white" of the law to examine the gray areas where ethics and reality collide. We begin with a foundation in ethical reasoning before diving into the core of the system to explore why certain actions can be perfectly legal yet still feel fundamentally wrong. Through real-world examples, we analyze how professionals weigh fairness, responsibility, and justice when the rulebook is silent. Join us for a thought-provoking look at the silent moral engine shaping our justice system. This event is also available virtually.
