If you live near , the water hasn't left yet. Riviera Beach officials cited about 15.5 inches of rain, roughly 15 to 20 inches of it in six hours, in what they called an approximately 1-in-1,000-year event. As of Wednesday evening, the Palm Beach Post reported that residents can do laundry and flush toilets again, but Lone Pine Estates remains significantly flooded, with people still trapped.

Fire rescue crews used rafts to reach residents, and the city said more than 50 people were rescued while about 75 were evacuated. Mayor Douglas Lawson asked for state help, and Gov. Ron DeSantis added Palm Beach County to the flood emergency Wednesday. Lawson's warning: "This is not an overnight recovery."

  • Help line: 877-257-2374 for nonemergency flood help
  • Shelter: county opened one at the Therapeutic Recreation Center in Lake Worth
  • Blue Heron Boulevard: closed after a force main ruptured; reopening expected Thursday
  • Supplies: Palm Beach Harvest and Sincere 2000 are helping with water and meals

The flood response grew from city action to a state emergency order

  1. Nov. 3Riviera Beach activates its Emergency Operations Center to Level 2.
  2. Nov. 3Emergency teams stop entering flooded areas after 6 p.m., except for medical emergencies or life-threatening situations.
  3. Nov. 4DeSantis adds Palm Beach County to the state flood emergency.
  4. Nov. 5Blue Heron Boulevard is expected to reopen in both directions.

  • Century Village: water reached 3 to 4 feet in some areas
  • Riviera Beach: 71 people and nine pets evacuated
  • Riviera Beach: two medical rescues by the swiftwater team
  • Military Trail: crews also staffed an aircraft crash site
